How Much Do Delivery Apps Really Cost a Restaurant?
Most delivery apps take 15% to 30% of every delivery order, before card fees and ads. On $10,000 a month of delivery sales, that is about $1,500 to $3,000 a month, or $18,000 to $36,000 a year. Your exact number depends on your plan, so check your own statement.

The published rates
Grubhub's rates are not on a public page we could check. Third-party summaries list numbers from 5% to 25%. Look at your own contract.
| App | Delivery commission | Pickup |
|---|---|---|
| DoorDash | 15% Basic, 25% Plus, 30% Premier | 6% on every plan |
| Uber Eats | 15% to 30%, by plan | Lower rate, by plan |
| Grubhub | Varies by plan and contract | Varies |
A worked example: $10,000 a month
These numbers are commission only. Card processing, paid ads inside the app, and promotions you fund come on top.
| Plan rate | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| 15% | $1,500 | $18,000 |
| 25% | $2,500 | $30,000 |
| 30% | $3,000 | $36,000 |
How to find your real number
- Open last month's payout statement from each app.
- Add up the commission, marketing and promotion lines.
- Divide by your total sales on that app. That is your real rate.
What changes on your own website
On your own site there's no commission. You still pay card processing (about 3% on most card processors), and couriers if you deliver. The rest stays with you. Use the calculator on our home page to try your own numbers.
